Fresh Cut Bouquet
Follow steps below.
1. Unwrap and take a big whiff!
When you receive your bouquet, carefully unwrap it as soon to prevent the stems from becoming bent or damaged. Take a big whiff of those fresh blooms and greenery! Remove any wrapping (although pretty for presentation, we try not to use plastic wrap) or rubber bands, as these can restrict airflow to the flowers.
*Keep in mind we design the fresh cut bouquets so that is it easy for your to trim the stems and place into a vase without having to design it yourself
2. Prepare a vase or container
Fill a clean vase with cool to warm water. Avoid using hot or very cold water, as extreme temperatures can shock the flowers. Make sure the vase is an appropriate size for your bouquet. Too small and the stems will not fit comfortably and will overcrowd the flowers and too large and all the flowers and greenery will fan open and you have lost your design aesthetic.
Whatever you decide to use, it's important to choose something that's clean, tall enough for the flowers to sit somewhat upright without toppling over and large enough to give your fresh flowers some room to bloom.
3.Trim the Stems
Cut about 1-2 inches off the stems at a 45-degree angle using sharp scissors or a knife. Place in water immediately after cutting. This helps the flowers absorb water more effectively. Trim the stems every few days to keep them fresh longer.
Most bouquets come with a packet of flower food! Mix half a pack into the water to provide the nutrients your flowers need to stay vibrant and healthy. If you will be changing your flower water every few days this is not an essential step.
Remove all greenery/foliage that is below the water line
*Please make sure your cutting utensils are clean so as to not spread any bacteria to your flowers
4. Keep Flowers in a Cool Spot
Place your bouquet in a cool area away from direct sunlight, heat sources (like radiators or stoves), or drafts. Flowers last longer when they’re in a calm, temperature-stable environment.
*Avoid placing them near fruit, as fruit emits ethylene gas, which can cause flowers to wilt faster.
6. Change the Water Regularly
Refresh the water in your vase every 1-2 days to prevent bacteria from building up. Always trim the stems again when you change the water to keep the flowers able to drink properly.
*If you would not drink the water your flowers are sitting in then they won’t want to either
7. Remove Wilted Blooms and Leaves
As some flowers begin to fade, remove them from the bouquet. Wilted blooms or leaves can rot and cause the rest of the arrangement to deteriorate faster. Keeping the bouquet neat and tidy helps prolong the life of the remaining fresh flowers.
