A Summer Full of Weddings

Can we just touch on real quick how fast our the summer went ... how is it September already? Blown away!

At Michelle's Flowers, we had at pleasure of designing wedding flowers for many Saskatoon + surrounding area weddings, as well as traveling to Candle Lake and Elk Ridge to set up some beautiful weddings.

Although I am so SO so sad that summer has come to an end, there is a lot to look forward to this fall as we have some gorgeous weddings ahead that I am very excited to design for! (One specific wedding coming up this weekend that has my fave sunset colour palette)

But back to summer ... on the personal side, I had a summer like no other in the most wonderful way. My husband and I welcomed our baby boy into the world in May, on Mother's Day to be exact. How ironic for a florist!

Funny story about Mother's Day week. It felt so weird not designing for Mother's Day and I just had an urge to get my hands creating. The team at Michelle's decided they did not want to do Mother's Day orders without me and I did not want to commit to taking orders incase babe was here by then. So since no babe had arrived and I still felt really good, I told my friends over and Kim and Quinn's Flowers I would come help out if they needed me to come hammer out some flower arrangements or bouquets. I said I could handle a couple hours a day. So here I was 9 months pregnant, designing away. (And secretly, I was hoping the extra movement would spark labour!) So I guess I got the best of both worlds that week, some design time and a new babe!!

Before I found out I was pregnant, Michelle's Flowers had a full summer of weddings booked. So adding in our sweet little guy was definitely a game changer in many ways! But I felt it was important to continue on with our weddings as I did not want to let our brides down. Everyone told me I was crazy to work with a new born but I just knew the staff at Michelle's would be able to step up and had my pal Angelina over at Hawthorn as a back up, she was a big help on the heavier weekends and when I was not able to go do set ups.

I feel very blessed to have had the brides we did this summer. June specifically, I felt so much love and kindness from my brides as I navigated through being a first time mom and recovering from birth. Everything just came together in such a beautifully smooth way, or I guess as smooth as it could possibly go. I was able to spend the extra time healing, being with the baby, as well as getting into the studio to design.

For our fall season, we have a full schedule of weddings lined up until the weekend of Oct 21 where we stopped bookings for the rest of the year to take some time off until the Christmas season, where we will be open for the week of Christmas for every day flower deliveries (as Christmas is one of the studios very favourite times to design!)

For now, I will leave you with some of wedding photos from some of the beautiful weddings this summer!
